Come and Try Curling at Our Open House!!!

If you have always wanted to try curling, here’s your chance! We are having an Open House on Saturday Mark 21st from 3-5:30pm at the Toyota Sports Complex on Coal St. in Wilkes-Barre. We will also be running a multi-week Learn to Curl class that you can sign up for. More info on that later.

With the popularity of the sport at the Sochi Olympics, the great turnout at all our pre-season events, and the passion for the game among our current members, this season will surely be our best yet.

Chance at Redemption: Women’s World Curling Championship Gets Underway This Weekend

The 2014 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship gets underway at Harbour Station, Saint John, N. B., Canada, on Saturday.

Twelve of the top women’s teams in the world will take part with play continuing through to Sunday 23 March, when the medals will be decided.

The twelve teams who have qualified for this event are: hosts Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Korea, Latvia, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, Sweden and the USA.

The U.S. will seek a little redemption from the Sochi Olympics, surely, at this event. The States will be represented by Allison Pottinger at Skip. Joining her will be Nicole Joraanstad, Natalie Nicholson, and Tabitha Peterson. Continue reading

Hatspiel Continues, Learn to Curl Begins This Busy Saturday Night

clublogonobkgIn the words of Frank Costanza, Anthracite Curling Club is “going to be all over that shuffleboard court” on Saturday.

The “shuffleboard court” of course, being the Toyota Sportsplex in Wilkes-Barre. We’re going to be there pretty much all day and we’re shutting the place down at night.
