Anthracite team competing in Bucks County league

An all-Anthracite Curling team is currently participating in League play at Bucks County Curling Club.

The team consists of Lyle Kerrick (Skip), Erica Snarski, Michael Detweiler and Monica Lynn. They play every Sunday evening at Bucks County Ice Sports Zone in Warminster, Pa. The current league season at Bucks is the largest in the club’s short history. Continue reading

Annual Meeting Notice | Saturday, Feb. 4 @ 7:30

Anthracite Curling Club will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. The meeting will be held in the “party” area at Ice Rink at Coal St. at 7:30 p.m.
Winter League and non-league curling will follow at 9:45 p.m. until midnight.
Among the items to be discussed at the meeting are the upcoming Club Championship league, 2012 memberships, an Anthracite-hosted bonspiel in late July 2012 and the election of a member to the Board of Directors. Continue reading

Squirrels 12, Cracked Ice 2

Squirrels erased the memories of a two-game losing streak with a win over Cracked Ice on Sheet 1. Squirrels scored four points in an end and three in another.

Ice Techs 11, Happy Hour 4

Ice Techs won its fourth straight game in the Winter League and 15th overall with a convincing win over Happy Hour. The win was highlighted by a six-point end in the 2nd.

Winter League schedule announced

The four teams which participated in the inaugural Holiday Bowl have all returned to finish the winter season with the final seat in the Winter League championship, March 3.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, the first draws of the four-team Round Robin tournament will begin with Holiday Bowl champs Ice Techs taking on Happy Hour. Squirrels will play Cracked Ice in the other draw.

The third sheet will be available for members wishing to participate in an organized pick-up game each night starting at 9:45 p.m. A fourth sheet has been opened for one-on-one Learn to Curl sessions.

Happy Hour 7, Squirrels 4

Happy Hour secured second place in the Holiday Bowl with a 3-point final end, breaking a tie it forged in the 6th end. Continue reading

Ice Techs 5, Cracked Ice 3

Ice Techs wrapped up the Holiday Bowl before the first stone was thrown last Saturday but had a winning streak to protect.

Scoring two points in the 5th end, Ice Techs defeated Cracked Ice to finish Holiday Bowl with a perfect 3-0 record, winning the final game, 5-3. Continue reading

Holiday Bowl teams playing for pride tonight

Anthracite Curling Club returns to Ice Rink at Coal Street Park with the conclusion of its inaugural Holiday Bowl competition.

Tonight, pride is on the line for the four teams involved. On Sheet 1, Squirrels and Happy Hour will play for second place in the tournament. Next to them on Sheet 2, Cracked Ice will be seeking its first Holiday Bowl win and could spoil a long winning streak of the Bowl champs, Ice Techs.

The combination of Ice Techs’ win over Squirrels last week and Happy Hour defeating Cracked Ice, Ice Techs clinched a spot in the Winter League championship in early March. Continue reading

Ice Techs secured the inaugural Holiday Bowl title with a 6-2 win over Squirrels on Saturday night.
