Stone Cold takes Fell Conference title

Stone Cold defeated C&Ds, 9-8, in the Anthracite Cup semifinals on Aug. 24, 2010. Skip John Flyte led his team to 9 points and was able to hold off the dangerous C&Ds side and its furious charge to get into the Championship round.

The team advanced to the Anthracite Cup finals where it was defeated by Lyons.

League title to be decided tonight

Today marks the end of the 2010 Summer League season at Anthracite Curling Club as the top four teams battle for the first Club championship.

At 6 p.m., Stone Cold will battle C&Ds for the Fell Conference championship. In the other semifinal draw, Lyons will face Fifteen for the Smith Conference title. The winners of those draws will square-off at 8 p.m. for the Club championship. Continue reading

Second FunSpiel promises food, fun, curling

Anthracite Curling Club will host its second FunSpiel since the Club expanded earlier this year. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at The Ice Rink at Coal Street Park.

A similar event was held just a few weeks ago, and served as inspiration for this season-ending event. That night marks the Club’s last scheduled event on the ice at the rink, and will bring an end to the 2010 summer┬áseason. Continue reading

Squirrels lose, then Stone Cold wins to take Buckwheat Division crown

The final night of 2010 Summer League regular season curling wasn’t without drama until just around 10.

In the night’s final draw, Stone Cold defeated Team RAMROD, 7-3, to win the Buckwheat Division championship and advance to the Playoffs on Aug. 24. Continue reading
