If you’ve noticed a bit of youthful exuberance on the ice in recent weeks, it is likely attributed to members of Misericordia University Curling Club.
The students took their casual interest in the sport of curling from watching the 2010 Vancouver Olympics to trying the sport on their own when our Club President Alison Piatt introduced them to the sport and invited them to a recent Saturday Night Curling event. Tonight marks Anthracite Curling Club’s latest Saturday Night Curling at The Ice Rink at Coal St. Park in Wilkes-Barre. We take the ice at 10 p.m. and play until Midnight.
The Club is actively pursuing new members and Saturday Night Curling is a fun, relaxed way to introduce yourself to curling and get some one-on-one instruction from our senior members. Once you pick up the basics, you’ll be eager for our next Saturday Night Curling event on March 5.
The cost for non-members is $25. College students receive a $5 discount if you bring a proper ID. Arrive a few minutes early so we can start instruction as soon as possible.
You’ll want to wear warm, comfortable clothing (a knit hat and a fleece will do if you’re “always cold”) and clean sneakers with a good tread on the soles. Anthracite Curling Club provides the rest of what you’ll need.

Anthracite Curling Club announces it will hold a special meeting on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 8:30 p.m. at the Ice Rink prior to ice prep and Saturday Night Curling.
The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the new set of proposed bylaws for the Club. Continue reading

Anthracite Curling Club is thrilled to announce the release of a second piece of merchandise … our very own Window Decal.
That’s right. It’s time to scrape off that old sticker of Calvin peeing on a Cowboys helmet and show your Anthracite Curling pride and support.
Better yet … the stickers come in club colors:
Orange
Blue
Black
and White.
The decal is about 7.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The cost is just $10.
