The Squirrels were able to hold off two comebacks from MLC in a 6-4, 7-end victory Tuesday night on Sheet 1.
After taking a 2-0 lead, the Squirrels surrendered a point in the 3rd and 4th ends before taking three in the 5th. MLC got two back in the 6th but couldn’t steal any points in the final end. Continue reading →

It’s been way too long, but finally Anthracite Curling Club is back on the ice for its second season of league play, starting this Tuesday, March 29, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at The Ice Rink at Coal Street Park in Wilkes-Barre.
Defending champion Matt Lyons leads a new squad (Brandon Jackson, Stacey Berkoski and Tom McGreevy) this year but still has the same goal. He’ll take the ice at 8 p.m. against Team Baessler on Sheet 2.
By that time, six teams will have already played their first game of 12 this season. Club administration has released the full league schedule and rosters for the upcoming season which runs from Tuesday until the end of June. Continue reading →
Title: Welcome Back Night / Learn to Curl
Location: The Ice Rink at Coal St. Complex, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Description: Welcome Back Night is the unofficial beginning of our 2011 season at Anthracite Curling Club. We’ll be on the ice from 6-10 p.m. This is an opportunity for our members to get back on the ice before the start of the regular season on March 29.
The night also serves as our popular Learn to Curl clinic. Non-members and those of you curious about the sport of curling are invited to join Anthracite Curling Club, give the sport a try and see where it goes from there. Many people who attended the 2010 Learn to Curl clinics are current members.
Cost of the whole night is $35 for non-members and $20 for members. Wear warm, comfortable clothing and sneakers with a good tread on them. We’ll provide everything else.
