Wicked weather bumps ACC segment to Monday

*UPDATE* Due to a series of severe thunderstorms prior to and during the 6 p.m. newscast, WNEP-TV was forced to bump our segment likely until Monday. If it’s any consolation, more people likely watch their local TV news on a Monday than a Friday, especially during the summer.

Anthracite Curling Club will be featured during tonight’s WNEP-TV telecasts in the “Sharla’s Show & Tell” segment.

On Tuesday, as the club kicked-off Summerspiel, WNEP sports anchor Sharla McBride tried her hand and slider foot at curling on the rink at Ice Rink at Coal Street Park. Club President Alison Piatt served as tutor to the newscaster.

Based on random glances, it looked like Sharla got the hang of it pretty quickly. You can see what she thought of her experience during WNEP’s 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

SummerSpiel starts tonight!

Anthracite Curling Club is back on the ice starting tonight for at least the next six weeks as part of SummerSpiel 2011.

SummerSpiel is an 8-team, six-week league that will take us to Labor Day this year. Continue reading
