WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Anthracite Curling Club is excited to give the residents of northeastern Pennsylvania the opportunity to explore the unique sport of curling.
The Club is hosting an Open House this Saturday at The Ice Rink at Coal Street in Wilkes-Barre, the sport’s home for the last four years in northeastern Pennsylvania. With the Winter Olympics just more than four months away, this is a perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to one of the most popular sports in all Olympics.
On Sat., Sept. 21 from 8 to 10 p.m., at The Ice Rink at Coal St. in Wilkes-Barre, Anthracite Curling Club will be offering an introduction to the sport of curling with lessons on the basics of game-play, stone delivery, sweeping, and strategy. Registration begins at 7:30.
Saturday’s session is just $15. There is no skating necessary. All you need is warm, comfortable clothing and clean sneakers with a good gripping sole. The club provides everything else. Anyone interested in this session can sign up by calling 570-266-7978.
