The final night of 2010 Summer League regular season curling wasn’t without drama until just around 10.
In the night’s final draw, Stone Cold defeated Team RAMROD, 7-3, to win the Buckwheat Division championship and advance to the Playoffs on Aug. 24.
Here are recaps of the six draws from Tuesday night …
MLC 6, Squirrels 4
MLC ended a hard-luck season by winning a close draw, 6-4, and in the process, eliminated the Squirrels from the Playoffs. Marksman-like draws from MLC’s Michael Detweiler kept the Squirrels on the defensive all night.
Goody’s 6, Blarney 6
Goody’s clinched the first Wild Card spot after earning a point against Blarney. It was the team’s second tie this season.
Lyons 6, WINOs 2
WINOs will still advance to the Wild Card exhibition round on Aug. 24 thanks to the results in the Buckwheat Division, and take the No. 2 extra seed in the Fell Conference. Lyons will play in the
Fifteen 15, Whippersnappers 2
Fifteen appears primed for the Playoffs after a convincing win over their Steamboat Division rivals. Despite the loss, Whippersnappers still secured the second Wild Card spot in the Smith Conference and will play at 8 p.m. on Aug. 24.
C + Ds 9, Boss Hog-Line 4
C + Ds could treat this draw as a tune-up for the Playoffs, and lucky for them in their preparations, they faced a formidable foe in BHL. Despite the loss, BHL advances to the Wild Card Exhibition round thanks to the action in the Buckwheat Division.
Stone Cold 7, RAMROD 3
Stone Cold clinched the Buckwheat Division and a spot in the Playoffs with a must-win victory over division foes Team RAMROD, 7-3.
Stone Cold advances to the Fell Conference Championship on Aug. 24 to face C&Ds. John Flyte’s team is the only side to defeat the Eddie Perrino-led Chestnut Division champions.
