It’s been a long winter. More than three months later, we’ve arrived at the Winter League Finals and just that much closer to the return of weekly curling at Anthracite.
Last Saturday, with the Finals already set, the only thing left to determine was how the top two teams would finish in the round robin standings.
After winning its first four games of the season and securing a spot in the Finals, Demented Magenta dropped its second consecutive game in a 9-4 decision to Sons of Shaddrat.
Four points in the 7th end broke open a close game until that point. Demented Magenta’s single in the 6th drew them to within a point of the leaders. This was Sons of Shaddrat’s first win of the season and they’ll face House Hunters in the Second Event Final on Saturday.
In the other Winter League draw, Bonanza won its fifth game in a row with a 10-4 win over House Hunters. The team had already locked its spot in the Finals and finishes atop the round robin standings.
Bonanza jumped to a 10-0 lead over the first six ends to lock up the win.
