Division leaders meet on Sheet 2 as Playoffs near: Draw 5 Preview

clublogonobkgTuesday’s Draw 5 of the 2013 Spring League is easily the most intriguing of the season and until all the spots in the Playoffs are decided, it’s likely that theme will stay true in Draws 6 and 7, too.

Playoff implications aside, pretty much any game of curling is more intriguing than the last. Deep thoughts aside …

Two divisional battles and a match-up of division leaders highlight this week’s calendar. Here are previews of the three draws this week:

Goodies vs. Buffalo Bills

The Bills (2-2) can clinch a spot in the Playoffs with a win on Tuesday. They’re at .500 after waiting until Draw 3 to break into the W column. A Goodies (1-3) win with a little help could force a three-way tie in the Wilkes Division. Goodies got off the schnide last week by topping Wilkes leaders Demented Magenta.

Demented Magenta vs. Walrus & Mermaids

Walrus & Mermaids (4-0) clinched a Playoffs berth last week and remain undefeated on the season. They could take another step closer to sealing the Barre Division with a fifth win Tuesday. Demented Magenta (2-2) is looking to stop a two-game losing streak and stay atop the Wilkes Division.

Falcons vs. Happy Hour

Falcons (0-4) need to open their account in the Win column this season to stay alive in the post-season race. A win against divisional foe Happy Hour (3-1) is a good way to start. Happy Hour is coming off its first loss and can wrap up the second Playoffs spot in the Barre Division with a win.
