Half of Fall League Finals set

In the fourth night of the 2012 Fall League, the leaders from the outset, House Hunters, was able to secure a spot in the First Event Finals on Dec. 8 with a walk-over winner against Machu Picchu.

That result improves the team to 4-0 and they await their opponent in the Finals. The only question remaining is whether they’ll run the table and finish the Round Robin season with an unblemished record. Continue reading

Two Round Robin games remain before Fall Finals

The Fall League is quickly coming to a close with just three more draws to be played between now and Dec. 8.

On that December date, two teams will be looking for their chance at claiming the Fall League championship. One team, the 3-0 House Hunters, has a chance of clinching a spot in the Finals this Saturday with a victory over Machu Picchu (2-1).

A decision the other way will set up a frenetic final regular season session in two weeks. Continue reading

Fall League Week 1: JAAM crushes Crackers; Four rookies debut

Anthracite Curling Club’s inaugural Fall League got underway Sept. 29 with four rookie members of the club taking the ice for the first time in competitive form.

In fact, one-third of the League’s 24 players are still in their first year of experience. Only two teams have rosters filled with players who were all members in 2011 or earlier.

Six teams are competing in this first-ever Fall League. Each team plays each other once. On Dec. 8, the first- and second-place teams will compete for the first-ever Fall League championship. Continue reading
