Anthracite Curling Club is proud to help represent Grand National Curling Club at this weekend’s Ross Tarlton International Bonspiel, hosted in 2012 at Utica (N.Y.) Curling Club.
The Club was to be represented by 2012 Club Champion Skip Lyle Kerrick and his Club teammate Thom Kivler playing along side two GNCC-appointed Substitutes but due to Thom being called to active duty with the National Guard, he was unable to attend.
Our Fall League is entering the critical stages and the top two places are still open. The teams finishing in first and second place at the end of play on Nov. 24 will play for the Fall League championship on Dec. 8. Continue reading
Anthracite Curling Club’s inaugural Fall League got underway Sept. 29 with four rookie members of the club taking the ice for the first time in competitive form.
In fact, one-third of the League’s 24 players are still in their first year of experience. Only two teams have rosters filled with players who were all members in 2011 or earlier.
Six teams are competing in this first-ever Fall League. Each team plays each other once. On Dec. 8, the first- and second-place teams will compete for the first-ever Fall League championship. Continue reading
Last Saturday night, Anthracite Curling Club began play in its first-ever organized Fall League.
There were plenty of new faces and some old faces in new places as the teams took the ice. Six teams will compete in a Round Robin format over the course of the season. Draw dates were and are: Sept. 29, Oct. 13 and 27, Nov. 10 and 24, and Dec. 8 will feature the Event Finals to determine the winner of this League.

With just two weeks before the season-ending FunSpiel, the action among the eight teams competing this summer is winding down. All four teams still have a chance to claim a League championship but winning this week is imperative. Continue reading
