The Ice Rink at Coal Street Park is the home arena of Anthracite Curling Club.
Just last year, the American Hockey League franchise Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins was named as manager of the ice and rink and our curling club has been sharing the surface with that hockey team, high school teams, figure skaters and the general public since then.
The Ice Rink is a newly-remodeled public ice rink now featuring a full-size rink, concession stand, modern facilities, lounge (with cable TV … and heat), arcade and vending machines. The Penguins have also opened a Pro Shop inside the building.
Anthracite Curling Club is able to host three full draws on the ice and we’re even able to install practice hacks for newcomers or new members to learn the sport or work on technique.
Surrounding the ice rink are bleachers and seating for spectators.
The rink is easily accessible from major highways in NEPA and is just minutes from Interstate 81 and Route 309. There are plenty of nearby shopping options, including restaurants and bars for proper broom-stacking.
