Lyons could not be topped in Anthracite Curling Club’s first-ever Playoffs and Championship on Aug. 24, 2010.
The team which streaked to 7 wins in 9 regular season games took that hot mark to the ice for its Smith Conference Championship game with Fifteen. The teams were winners of the Stove and Steamboat Divisions, respectively, during the regular season.
Lyons defeated Fifteen, 5-3, in six ends to advance to the 2010 Championship. Two points in the final end sealed the victory and berth in the Finals. There, the consistent play continued and Lyons defeated Fell Conference Champion Stone Cold, 6-2.
Three points in the sixth end with the hammer were insurance on a 1-point lead (3-2) going into the final frame.
