Championship scenarios for Friday night draws

Tonight marks the final draws of the 2011 Spring League regular season and we’ve saved the best for last.

Both berths in the Championship draw at Tuesday’s FunSpiel are still available and 7 of the league’s 12 teams are still eligible. Despite the results, there has been fantastic progress seen from our newest Club members while those with one or more years’ experience have been able to refine their games over the course of the last few months.

Need an example? Goody’s, which started the season at 0 wins and 6 losses, has now won 3 of its last 4 draws.

Here are tonight’s draws:

At 7:30 p.m. …
Happy Hour vs. Little Lebowskis
Squirrels vs. Cracked Ice
Bitter End vs. Goody’s

At 9:30 p.m. …
Stacey feat. Ice Techs vs. Team Grassi
Team Cawley vs. MLC
Maasome vs. Team Piatt

Please note the special start times, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Remember the FunSpiel is this Tuesday, June 21, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at The Ice Rink at Coal Street. Bring a friend and bring some food.

Here are the Championship scenarios for this Friday’s draws:

Smith Conference

Squirrels (Overall 7-3, Conference 2-3, 70 pts.) can clinch the Smith Conference with a win Friday night. If they lose, Happy Hour, Team Cawley and Stacey feat. Ice Techs ALL must lose, too, to clinch the conference. Otherwise they are eliminated.

A loss from any of the following teams would eliminate them from the race:

Stacey feat. Ice Techs (6-4, 3-2, 59) must win Friday to be in the running for the Smith Conference title. In addition to winning, the Squirrels must lose and Team Cawley and Happy Hour must also lose. The team can still clinch if Team Cawley and Happy Hour each win, but must score the same number of points Friday as Team Cawley and at least 11 more than Happy Hour.

Team Cawley (6-4, 3-2, 58) must win and the Squirrels lose to have a chance at clinching the Smith Conference. In addition, Cawley must score 2 more points than Stacey feat. Ice Techs and 12 more than Happy Hour if each of those teams wins its draw on Friday.

Happy Hour (6-4, 3-2, 69) must win and the Squirrels lose to have a chance at clinching the Smith Conference. In addition to the victory, Happy Hour must not score fewer than 11 and 12 points of Stacey feat. Ice Techs and Team Cawley, respectively.

The Fell Conference will be decided during the 9:30 p.m. draws on Friday:

If Team Piatt (6-4, 3-1, 63) defeats Maasome, they will win the Fell Conference despite the result of the MLC vs. Team Cawley draw by virtue of the Conference Record tie-breaker.

The team can still clinch the conference with a loss if MLC loses and they are not defeated by Maasome by 9 or more points.

The following teams need Team Piatt to lose in order to have a chance at clinching the conference title:

MLC (6-4, 3-2, 68) can clinch with a win and a Team Piatt loss. If they lose, they can also clinch if Maasome defeats Team Piatt so long as Maasome does not score 14 more points than MLC on Friday night.

Maasome (5-5, 2-2, 55) must defeat Team Piatt on Friday by 9 points and hope for an MLC loss while at the same time, scoring 14 more points than MLC.
