Club Championship: Week 5 results

Some late-end dramatics have created a true logjam in the Club Championship standings.

While there is one team on top, a remarkable four teams are currently tied with 3 wins, putting more consequence on each draw in the final two weeks of the regular season. Remember, the top four teams will make the Playoffs.

Here are the individual draw reports from Tuesday night’s fifth round of the 2012 Anthracite Curling Club Championship.

Cawley 9, Keeler 7

Team Cawley picked up its second win of the season and pulled level with Team Keeler, using a 4-point surge through the 6th and 7th ends to pull away Tuesday. Both teams remain alive in the hunt for the Playoffs.

Kerrick 6, Sophy 4

Erica Snarski’s key runback onto an opponent’s buried stone turned the tide in the winner-take-all 7th end, propelling Team Kerrick to a 4-1 record and sitting alone in first place.

Ice Techs 7, Happy Hour 4

A five-point 4th end was the difference in a draw that pulled the defending champions level with three other teams. Ice Techs have now won two in a row while Happy Hour is losers of two straight draws.

Cracked Ice 8, Goodies 6

Cracked Ice scored in two ends but that included an improbable five points in the 6th to claim victory away from the stung Goodies team. Goodies held a three-point lead going into the 6th after scoring a pair in the 5th.
