Spring League debut welcomes new and old

clublogonobkgThe debut of the inaugural Anthracite Curling Club Spring League welcomed new and old curlers to the ice.

For some, Tuesday’s draws were the first of a lifetime and for others, a chance to work off some of that rink rust accumulated over the Fall and winter. Others still, never left.

Tuesday’s draws kicked off a seven-week regular season in the Spring League. Six teams are split into two divisions. The top two finishers will make the playoffs and the league champs will be crowned on May 28.

Demented Magenta, the reigning seasonal champs at Anthracite, welcomed a new member on their roster and picked up where it left off about a month ago. Brandon Jackson’s team used singles and steals to defeat Goodies, 6-1.

With Erica Snarski at the helm of Walrus & the Mermaids, they were able to dispatch the Falcons, 12-0. In the other draw, Eddie Perrin0’s Happy Hour squad has returned and looked like it hadn’t missed a beat, beating Buffalo Bills (nee Bonanza), 12-3.
