Teams look for hot starts, redemption in Week 2 draws

All the jitters and feeling-out time has passed and new teammates are more comfortable in new settings. Week 2 of Anthracite Curling Club’s Spring/Summer 2011 season is upon us and there are six draws Tuesday night at The Ice Rink at Coal Street Park.

Two draws feature a pair of unbeaten teams and two more draws feature teams looking for their first wins of the early season. And the other draws feature teams who barely missed out on victories last week.

At 6 p.m., Cracked Ice (Karampilas) and Happy Hour (Perrino) will be looking to right last week’s wrongs in a draw on challenging Sheet 1. Next to them, Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Pearson) look to keep last week’s good fortunes rolling against MLC (Keeler), looking for redemption from seven days ago. On Sheet 3, Squirrels (Sophy) and Team Maas (Maas) are looking to get their season off to a hot start with a second win.

At 8 p.m., Sheet 1 features two winners from last week, Lyons (Lyons) and Team Piatt (Piatt). Bitter End (Kerrick) and Team Cawley (Cawley) each suffered losses in the final end last week and will be looking for better results Tuesday night when they meet on Sheet 2. On the third Sheet, Team Grassi (Grassi) looks to make it two in a row against Goody’s (Baessler), looking for its first win of the season.
