Anthracite Curling Club will be represented at this year’s Inaugural GNCC Arena Club Championship Bonspiel by the 2010 Summer League team Schoolhouse Rocks!
Fresh off its first win of the season, the team is hoping for more good fortunes when it takes the ice at Union Arena in Woodstock, Vt. The team’s first draw is Friday at 1 p.m. vs. Rutland Rocks CC #2.
Alison Piatt is Skip of Schoolhouse Rocks! She served as instructor during the Learn-to-Curl clinic held earlier this year. She is partnered with Jenn Fry, Barb Parzych and Thom Kivler for this tournament. Justin Nordstrom will not be in attendance. Kivler is Lead for Boss Hog-Line during League play.
A win means the team gets a break until Saturday morning at 8, when it will play the winner of the Woodstock CC #2/Ocean State CC #1 draw. If Schoolhouse Rocks! loses that first draw, they’ll play the loser of the aforementioned draw on Friday night at 6.
Beyond that, the bracket for this bonspiel looks like the BASE-ketball playoffs system. We’ll rely on the team to decipher it throughout the weekend.
Fourteen teams are competing for the first-ever title of Arena Club champion. Eight different clubs have sent representative teams to the bonspiel:
