USA Curling Nationals set for Philly in February

A chance to see world-class curling competition is coming to Pennsylvania in just two months and your opportunity to get close to the action is very real.

The 2012 USA Curling Nationals will be held from Feb. 11-18 at IceWorks Skating Complex in Aston, Pa., just outside Philadelphia.  The Men’s and Women’s fields will consist of the 10 best teams in the country, all competing to represent the U.S. at the World Championships.

This is just more than a two-hour drive from the rink in Wilkes-Barre and may be the only chance you have to see such a strong field locally for some time.

Why just go as a fan when you can get down on ice level? Organizers seek Volunteers for the event, with all curlers welcome to participate. They are looking for volunteers for Instructors, Ushers, Ice Crew, Selling Merchandise, Hospitality, On Ice Timers (don’t have to be a certified official only have computer knowledge to run the timers) and Ice Officials.

You can be a partial volunteer for minimum of 4 hours or a full volunteer with a minimum of 4 (4hr) shifts.  With both packages you will get snacks and beverages during your shift along with a T-shirt. If you are a full volunteer you will get a round robin general admission pass to all of the round robin games and an Exclusive Event Volunteer pin!!
