There were just 2 scenarios of 16 which would have forced any draw-to-the-button tie-breakers to determine seeding in the 2012 Club Championship Playoffs. And in a season of ups, downs, and sideways, it stood almost as a likelihood that one of them would happen after Tuesday night’s final round of the first season was complete.
Thanks to wins by Team Sophy, Team Cawley, Happy Hour, and Cracked Ice, the top three teams in the regular season have finished virtually tied. Happy Hour, Cracked Ice, and Team Kerrick have finished with identical 5-win, 2-loss records. In the head-to-head comparison between them, each team was 1-1. Each team also finished with 15 points in the Strength of Victory tie-breaker.
Prior to the start of next week’s first round of the Playoffs, those three teams will play in a tie-breaker draw-to-the-button. The team farthest from the Button will be the #3 seed in the Playoffs and face Team Sophy (#4). The remaining teams will play in the 1 vs. 2 match-up. Seeding in that game, although inconsequential, will be determined by the head-to-head tie-break between the teams.
Team Sophy clinched the fourth seed in the Club Championship Playoffs with a draw-to-the-button win, capping a six-point comeback.

After starting the season with two straight losses, Cracked Ice came into form by winning five in a row, including Tuesday night’s win over previous league leader Team Kerrick. The Cracked Ice win combined with other results Tuesday forces a tie-breaker draw to determine Playoffs seeding.
