Team Dunham (Philadelphia) captured the GNCC Junior Men’s Championship during the Junior Regional Playdowns and Championship from Dec. 26-30, 2012. Team Ely (Rochester) captured the Women’s crown by defeating four other teams.
A total of 10 Junior Men’s and 5 Junior Women’s teams competed for the title of GNCC Junior Champion.
Three berths (1 Men’s and 2 Women’s) into the 2013 USA Curling Junior National Championship were also on the line that weekend. Team Anderson (Philadelphia), the runner-up, will also represent GNCC at the national tournament on the Women’s side.
The National Championship will be held at Broomstones Curling Club from Feb. 28 until March 10, 2013.
Team Dunham is Skipped by Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia) and also includes Vice Andrew Stopera (Ardsley), Second Steven Szemple (Plainfield), and Lead Andrew Dunnam (Philadelphia).
Team Ely is Skipped by Hannah Ely (Rochester) and also includes Vice Emily Walker (Broomstones), Second Abigail Morrison (Rochester), and Lead Becky Vanarsdall (Potomac). Team Anderson placed second in the Women’s tournament and will represent the GNCC at Junior Nationals as well. It is Skipped by Sarah Anderson (Philadelphia) and includes Vice Kathleen Dubberstein (Madison, Wisc.), Second Taylor Anderson (Philadelphia), Lead Leilani Dubberstein (Madison, Wisc.), and Fifth/Alternate Abigail Suslavich (Nutmeg).
