It’s been way too long, but finally Anthracite Curling Club is back on the ice for its second season of league play, starting this Tuesday, March 29, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at The Ice Rink at Coal Street Park in Wilkes-Barre.
Defending champion Matt Lyons leads a new squad (Brandon Jackson, Stacey Berkoski and Tom McGreevy) this year but still has the same goal. He’ll take the ice at 8 p.m. against Team Baessler on Sheet 2.
By that time, six teams will have already played their first game of 12 this season. Club administration has released the full league schedule and rosters for the upcoming season which runs from Tuesday until the end of June.
For those new to the Club entering your first season, here’s what to expect on League Night at the rink:
> You’ll want to arrive at least 15 minutes before your game time. This gives you a chance to stretch and meet with your teammates.
> There will be three games playing simultaneously on three sheets. It’s important to be paying attention to your game and be mindful of the other players in other games, including their stones.
